Privacy Policy

1. Overview

EvoMatch (“we”, “us”) helps people find professional connections, mentors, collaborators, and friends based on values, goals, and personality. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

• Account information — your name, email address, and authentication details, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk.
• Date of birth— collected once, during signup, solely to confirm you meet the minimum age to use EvoMatch (see Section 7). If you don’t meet that minimum, your date of birth is never stored — your account is removed immediately instead.
• Profile information — anything you add during onboarding or profile edits: bio, photos, values, personality answers, beliefs, goals, career and education details, skills, and interests.
• Activity data — swipes, matches, and messages you send within the app.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Show your profile to other members and let you browse theirs.
• Detect mutual matches and enable messaging between matched members.
• Generate AI-powered compatibility scores, match explanations, and suggested conversation openers. To do this, relevant parts of your profile (not your name, contact details, or messages) are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API for processing. This content is not used by Anthropic to train their models.
• Operate, secure, and improve the app.

4. Who we share information with

We don’t sell your personal information. We share information only with:

• Other members — before a match, people see a limited preview (first name, photo, and a short teaser). After a mutual match, your full profile becomes visible to that person.
• Service providers who process data on our behalf: Clerk (authentication), Neon (database hosting), Anthropic (AI processing described above), and Vercel (application hosting).
• Legal reasons — if required by law or to protect the safety of our members.

5. Data retention & deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, photos, matches, messages, and swipe history from our database, and deletes your authentication account. This action cannot be undone.

6. Your choices

You can edit or remove profile information at any time from your Profile page, and control notification preferences from Settings. You can request a copy of your data or ask us questions using the contact details below.

7. Minimum age

EvoMatch is intended for users 16 and older. We ask for your date of birth once, at signup, to confirm this. If you enter a date of birth showing you’re under 16, we don’t store it — your account is deleted immediately and no profile data is ever collected. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We’ll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
